The Scoring System
From player ratings to team totals — the complete scoring breakdown
Step 1: The Base Vote
After every real-world match, official sports journalists rate each player's performance on a scale from 1 to 10 — with decimals (e.g., 6.5, 7, 7.5), in the Italian fantacalcio tradition. This vote is the foundation of each player's fantasy score.
Step 2: Add Bonus Points
On top of the base vote, players earn or lose Bonus points based on specific actions in the match. Bonuses are weighted by position — a goal from a goalkeeper is worth far more than a goal from a striker, because it's far rarer.
Goals by Position
| Event | Value |
|---|---|
| Goal | +3 pts |
Other Positive Bonuses
| Event | Value |
|---|---|
| Assist | +1 pt |
| Clean Sheet (GK) | +1 pt |
| Penalty Saved (GK) | +3 pts |
Negative Bonuses
| Event | Value |
|---|---|
| Yellow Card | −0.5 pts |
| Red Card | −1 pt |
| Own Goal | −2 pts |
| Penalty Conceded | −0.5 pts |
| Penalty Missed | −3 pts |
| Goal Conceded (GK / DF) | −1 pt |
Step 3: Calculate the Player Score
Step 4: Calculate the Team Score
Add up the individual scores of all 11 starting players to get your team's score for the week.
Step 5: Score → Goals (Match Mode)
In competitions where teams play head-to-head matches — such as league and regular season formats — your team's total score is automatically converted into a number of fantasy goals. This result determines the match outcome (win, draw, or loss) and affects your standings.
What About Substitutes?
If your federation has automatic substitutions enabled, players who didn't play may be automatically replaced by a bench player in the same position. This ensures your score isn't penalized for resting players or unexpected absences — as long as you have valid bench coverage.
Custom Configurations
All bonus values are fully configurable by the federation admin. Your league might award +2 per assist, or might not penalize defenders for goals conceded. Always check your federation's settings to know the exact rules in play.
Live Score Updates
Scores update in real time as matches progress. When your forward scores in the 30th minute, your team's score immediately reflects the +3. No need to wait for the match to finish or check the next day — just pure real-time action as the games unfold.
Frequently Asked Questions
How are fantasy football points calculated?
Every starter gets a base match rating from 1 to 10, then bonus points are added for goals, assists and clean sheets, and subtracted for cards, own goals and missed penalties. The scores of your 11 starters are added together for your matchday total.
How many points is a goal worth in fantasy football?
Goals are weighted by position because rarer goals count more: by default a forward's goal is +3, a midfielder's +4.5, a defender's +6 and a goalkeeper's +9. Admins can adjust these values per league.
What is a clean sheet bonus?
A clean sheet bonus rewards a goalkeeper (and optionally defenders) when their real team concedes zero goals in the match — by default +1 point.
How is my team score converted into a match result?
In head-to-head and league competitions your total score is converted into fantasy goals against a threshold table, and those goals decide whether you win, draw or lose. In total-points and grand-prix formats the raw score is used directly.
Can I customize the scoring rules?
Yes. Every bonus and penalty value is fully configurable by the league admin, so your federation can set its own points for goals, assists, clean sheets and more. Always check your league's settings for the exact rules.
